An under-training (UT) DSP Umair Tariq Bajari belonging to a highly influential family has been arrested in Karachi allegedly for committing a robbery along with his team, a case registered and the DSP after the investigation by the police, was sent to Jail on Judicial remand.
DSP Umair Tariq Bajari originally from Bajara, a small town of taluka Sehwan, district Jamshoro is the son of former WAPDA officer Tariq Bajari but his original power and source of unlimited influence is his uncle Saleem Bajari private secretary of former Chief Minister Syed Murad Shah, said to be most powerful person of the province due to his association with former CM Shah from last one decade plus.
This story is not just that a UT DSP by misusing his authority committed a heinous crime like dacoity, got arrested, and now facing Police investigation; but the real question is that a young man, having education from London, who has no dearth of money, recently recruited as a DSP in the Sindh Police, who had a bright future, whole life and a career as a Police officer; why did this and most importantly is the only responsible for his illegal acts.
Police sources claimed that this was not his first crime, he as a DSP UT misused his authority as his bosses senior Police officers gave him illegally lot of powers and protocols to please him and to build a relationship with his uncle Saleem Bajari.
Umeer Bajari is a symbolic character who can explain and describe the situation of lawlessness in Sindh and the rule of law for the last decade-plus, getting high positions against merit, the lifestyle of people belonging to influential families, the privileges they get, and the lust of earning of unlimited illicit money by them.
Unfortunately, without distinguishing between legitimate and illegitimate the blind race of earning unlimited money has now been institutionalized in Sindh, which has ruined the whole social fabric of the province, where it is widely believed that any person or candidate can get any job if he can pay the required money, no work could be done without paying the bribe.
In a province where all government institutions are compromised and compelled to obey the orders of the powerful political elites who otherwise had no legal role in government affairs and where a ‘system’ works as a state-within-state or as a super-government.
Regardless of how Umeer got the job of DSP from the infamous Sindh Public Service Commission, it is not Umeer alone who is responsible for reaching police lockup from the DSP office, but his family members, his father, his uncle, and society who acclimated an immature young man lot of power, police protocol, hotter cars and legions of followers even before his employment of police.
Many police cars driving around in a convoy, unlimited power, and pampering rather complementary attitude of senior officers and bosses are enough factors to corrupt the mind of a good mature person, and Uamir was just 24 years old an immature young man.
This incident is a big lesson for parents that no matter how much money and power they have, they should train their children well, provide them with quality education, keep them away from the circle of pleasures, and make them good and law-abiding citizens; otherwise such incidents will continue to happen sometimes in the form of Umeer and sometimes in the form of Shah Rukh Jatoi and other characters.
